ABA supporting member clubs
Louisville, KY. On Saturday October 18, 2025, we held the annual meeting at the Derby City Bop Club event, Boogie In The Bluegrass. Hats off to the team there for sponsoring our meeting and the opportunity to present the 2025 new inductees into the ABA Hall of Fame. Next year the Annual meeting will be held at Rollin On The River in St. Louis. Don't wait until the last minute to get tickets! They sell out fast!
Congratulations to the recipients Jim & Sharon Commerford from the Tampa Bay Beach Boppers, and Jennifer Martin from the Derby City Bop Club. Well-deserved recognition! Also, I presented the Annual Gary Chaney Excellence Award to Mary Ann Pfeiffer for her huge contributions to the dance community and the American Bop Association. Thank you, Mary Ann, for all your support.
The minutes from the meeting will be sent to all the member clubs soon, but I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know of somethings voted on (and passed unanimously). We agreed that since the ABA is in such a strong position financially, the Association will pay every member club's Music Licensing fees for the year 2025.
This well-deserved "pay-back" is available to every current ABA member club. We'll ask you to turn in your attendance numbers and calculate your fees as always, but do not include a check. We gotcha this year! The calculation forms will be going out in late October and early November, so watch for that email. Be sure your contact information is current with us so we send it to the right folks in your club. (That's always a problem, so please help us out!)
This offer is for the current year and only applies to our current membership. New clubs this year, and next, will have to pay membership dues and music licensing. Once the new clubs have been a member for a full calendar year, they will qualify for the same benefits.
Also, we agreed to forgive annual dues, again, for the upcoming year. These issues will be submitted and voted on each year at the Annual meeting as long as we have substantial funds.
Congratulations on being an ABA member and supporting out association!
Bud Waters
President, for the members of the
American Bop Association.
