While the majority of our classes focus on west coast swing (wcs), our club welcomes all dancers and styles of dancing, including lindy hop, Carolina shag, country western, ballroom, Latin.

 In 1978, a club called Tramp’s opened in Greenville. Whenever the DJ would play “Beach Music,” a group of old beach lovers would get up and Shag. This led to a Wednesday “Beach Night” and soon many of the area shaggers were meeting there regularly. In 1980, JoJo Putnam suggested that the group form an organization, as was being done in several cities.

Chicago's Windy City Jitterbug Club is a not-for-profit, non-charitable organization established to provide growth and the perpetuation of Jitterbug dancing. We dance the first and third Saturday of each month.

The Choo Choo Shag Club in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The Club was Chartered in April of 1995 and became a member of the Association Of Carolina Shag Clubs ( ACSC ) in the summer of 1995 and in 2001 we were the first Shag Club to become a member of the (ABA) American Bop Association.  For the past nineteen years, we have been home to Shag Tracks, the biggest little dance and pool party in the South.

Corvette City Bop & Dance Club (hereinafter referred to as “CCBDC” and/or “the Club”) was founded by a group of individuals with a common interest known as bop, shag, swing, and jitter bug dancing. The CCBDC is a dance organization dedicated to the preservation of these styles of dancing. The CCBDC also enjoys other styles of social dancing such as line dancing and various types of ballroom dancing and strives to promote the music that accompanies all of these styles of dance.

Derby City Bop is a collection of people spanning all age groups who come together every Tuesday, most second Saturdays and 3-day annual events, Boogie in the Bluegrass in October and Bourbon City Boogie Memorial Day weekend to preserve Bop, Shag and Swing style dances and preserves Beach, Bop, Shag and Rhythm and Blues style music.  We dance at the Moose Lodge #5, 4615 Fegenbush Lane, Louisville, KY. Free dance lessons are offered each Tuesday from 6 to 6:45 PM and open dancing until 10 PM.

In the late 1980's a group of beach music lovers from Bessemer and Birmingham began gathering at WT's Bar and Grill in Bessemer on Friday nights, listening and bopping to music from their teenage years of the late 1950's and 1960's.  Carl Simonetti and Ben Saxon, local DJ's, played music from artists such as Sonny Boy's and Jimmy Reed's harmonica blues, Ernie K-Doe's and Fats Domino's New Orleans rhythms, along with The Drifters, Hank Ballard, and the Temptations, to name just a few.  This was just the beginning of what would soon evolve in1990, under the leadership of Phil Graf, and become known as The Magic City Boppers.

The Memphis Bop Club was born out of frustration, the frustration that Memphis dancers felt when Chevy’s closed in early 1986 and no other night clubs offered the music or dancing opportunity to meet our needs.

The Memphis Bop Club is now in its 31st year of existence. We are still going strong and still committed to maintaining recognition of the specific style of music and dance known as the "Memphis Bop" and  other forms of dance, as a part of our National Musical Heritage.

The objective of the R & B Shag Club is to preserve, promote, and honor the rhythm and blues beach music sound, the Carolina Shag, and the artists who have contributed to our heritage. The R & B Shag Club was organized in 1981 and held its first dance at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. The Club received its South Carolina State Charter on July 21, 1982.

ShagAtlanta was established in 1989 with the merger of two metropolitan Atlanta shag clubs, the North Atlanta Beach Club and the Atlanta Beach Club, the latter being one of the original six shag clubs signing the charter that formed the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs (A.C.S.C.) in 1984. Presently, there are nearly 100 of these enthusiastic shag clubs located all over the country, but predominately in the southeast.

The DJ starts playing Shag music for our Club at 7:00 and we dance until about 9:30 every Sunday evening at the Holiday Inn Cedar Bluff, Knoxville, TN. Our Club gives lessons from 6:00 to 7:00 each Sunday. Beginner and Intermediate lessons go on at the same time in four week intervals and there is a line dance lesson the 5th week (see the Calendar of Events for the exact dates). We ask that all Beginners start their lessons from the first lesson to the last to get the full benefit.

The St. Charles Imperial Dance Club began in 1984 when a group of 35 members of the St. Louis Imperial Dance Club decided that there were enough St. Charles people involved in swing dancing to form their own club. That idea has grown to a viable club of over 300 members.

Founded in October 1996 and incorporated in January 1997, the Steel City Boogie Club is a private, non-profit, social dance club dedicated to the preservation and promotion of swing dancing known as the Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, BOP, Carolina Shag, and West Coast Swing. The SCBC was founded for the purpose of uniting the greater Pittsburgh community of swing dancers while providing an inexpensive place to dance on a regular basis.

West County Swing Dance Club is a not for profit organization of over 600 members that was originally formed in 1988 to promote imperial swing dancing in the St. Louis area. The primary goals of club are fun, fellowship, and support of all forms of swing dancing.   Every Tuesday, we teach four levels of dance lessons followed by open dancing. We also have a monthly dance, usually on the second Saturday.
